Wheel of Fortune slots by IGT were inspired by the popular American TV-show of the same name. No word puzzles here, only the spinning and winning part remains.
When it comes to the looks, the game is hardly impressive. Both graphics and animations are kinda oldish, and the traditional fruit symbols somehow don’t fit into the general “luxury prises” theme. Gameplay-wise though, it’s pretty interesting.
The first thing that catches the eye is the unconventional reel layout. It’s kinda diamond-shaped, with 5 symbols on the middle reel, and 3 on the outermost ones. The winning combinations count both from left to right, and from right to left. Finally, there are no traditional paylines - three or more matching symbols on adjacent reels (regardless of the vertical position) is a win.
There are several features in the game: standard wild, scatter (that activates mini-wheel bonus), and another scatter (triggers Triple Extreme Spin feature).
The mini-wheel bonus in Wheel of Fortune slots is rather boring - whenever three or more wheels appear on the reels, each of them spins and reveals a prize (a multiplier to the coin value). Basically, they added spinning wheels to the spinning reels so that you could spin the wheels while you spin the reels. Now, the Triple Extreme Spin feature is more complex, and involves even more spinning.
“They added little spinning wheels to the spinning reels so that you could spin the wheels while you spin the reels. Makes our heads spin”
As soon as you get three or more bonus symbols (Triple Wheel), you’ll see a number of envelopes. Each envelope contains a random gem (red, blue, or yellow), and you can pick as many of them as the number of scatters that triggered the round. Each gem adds a pointer to the wheel of corresponding color (up to three). Red and blue wheels have win values on them, and the yellow one has win multipliers. When you click “Spin” (we hate this word by now), all the three wheels revolve, rotate, pivot around, and circulate (there, the power of thesaurus), and you total win is calculated.
Wheel of Fortune slots may not look impressive, but they offer many enough gameplay features to disregard this. All the features involve spinning something, so you’d better have high motion sickness resistance.
