Montezuma slot was developed by WMS, and depicts a beautiful culture of Mesoamerican tribes, as it was before us Europeans came and ruined everything. In a nutshell, it’s a traditional 5-reels 30-lines video slot with a single bonus feature.
The slot looks and feels nice, with clear graphics, authentic music, and little to none animations. The symbols show you proud warriors, beautiful princesses, and traditional Aztec pyramids. There are no cannibalistic rituals shown, and not a single severed head rolls down the sacrificial pyramid, so the historical credibility of the game is somewhat questionable.
“The historical credibility of the game is somewhat questionable.”
Montezuma slot features a wild symbol (Pyramid) and a scatter - The Round Thingy. What? We have no idea what it is. A shield? A sun-clock? An amulet? Screw this, The Round Thingy it is.
Gameplay
In the main game the Wild appears only on reels 2 to 4, and substitutes all other symbols except The Round Thingy. Whenever three or more Scatters appear on the reels, you are rewarded with a free spins round with some extra benefits.
First of all, you spin a wheel to determine the number of spins you get (3 to 25). Then, at the beginning of every spin, the wheel turns again to reveal a multiplier (min 2x, max 10x). If you’re lucky to get two or more Scatters again, even more free spins are added to the round.
Our Opinion
Montezuma slot is a hit by WMS, made in a pretty entourage of ancient South America. The round of free spins features different multiplier up to x10 every spin, which is a nice bonus, and the main game is rather standard, with only the Wild making you win more often.
