Island Casino Review
Some casinos are reliable, some are questionable, and some are freaking suspicious. Here we’re dealing with a really messed-up one: Island Casino is currently under the investigation by US government for $2 million money laundering. It is licensed under the jurisdiction of Costa Rica. The Casino website is very confusing, and it has the worst navigation we’ve ever seen. You’ll understand what we’re talking about as soon as you visit it. The only reason you might want to do that is if you have some masochistic needs to force your way through weird-ass deposit methods, glitchy sub-casinos, and confusing bonuses. And even then it might be too much. Game variety is average: you’ll see about two hundred game titles from IGS, RTG, and few other developers. Bonuses are awful, and the WR's are even worse. For example Match Play Casino has a 50% match bonus up to €125 with unclear wagering requirements, so if you are going to claim one - you should check T&C’s thoroughly. If you have an enemy - just share with him a link to this casino, and wait until he crawls to you on his knees, begging for mercy.
- 20 years in business;
- Five casinos in one - you won’t have such a unique experience anywhere else;
- Lots of sports betting options;
- Toll-free phone.
- Costa Rica license;
- Disastrous website with horrible navigation;
- Impossibly bad bonuses and wagering requirements;
- Compromised reputation;
- No live games.
Island Casino was founded under the jurisdiction of Costa Rica back in 1997 and is a part of 5Dimes Group. Over the years it has grown immensely, covering almost every branch of gambling, from sportsbook to lottery and poker. Of course, there are casinos as well. Yes, in multiple forms. Five of them, to be exact. Instead of having a varied games collection in one place, they decided that each developer deserves a separate casino. A doubtful decision, if you ask us.
Switching between them is a pain in the ass. In the time of writing, we literally couldn’t register at the website because of the “Problems with our application.” Ok, it’s fine, then maybe we can play games in trial mode? Nope, there are no instant games for free play. There are long lists of game titles in each casino (they don’t even have the god-damned icons!), but you can’t play them, no way. By clicking on the links, you’ll see game rules and screenshots and… wait a minute! We figured out why they have no download button! It’s because the website offers you to download a client from the very beginning, but this kind of activity is blocked by all browsers, as it’s considered suspicious. We can’t blame browsers for that; even we think that the website is not reliable, and we have one big reason for that: it’s under U.S. Authorities investigation.
“5Dimes Group is currently under the investigation by U.S. Authorities for money laundering!”
The story is simple and elegant. 5Dimes group used Amazon cards for depositing and withdrawing money, in violation of Amazon terms of service, and U.S. laws. The investigation will soon come to an end, and we won’t see 5Dimes Group casinos ever again. The question is: will there be your funds on an account in one of their casinos?
Banking: Anyway, let’s move on to the banking. They accept credit cards, Bitcoin, P2P transfer (?), Money Order (??), Sportsbook transfer and Account to Account transfer (??!). What the hell is that? At the bottom of it, credit cards would be your best bet. As if not bad enough, the minimum deposit is €50, and you get just one free withdrawal per month (the ones after that are subject to fees).
Customer Support: The support team is available from 9:00 AM EST to 1:00 AM EST via live chat, phone numbers (including a toll-free one) and email. Considering everything described above, we bet they have a lot of work.
Software and Game Variety
As we mentioned, Island Casino has several casinos within it, based on the software they use. They got RTG, Betsoft, DGS, Gametime Software and several more. Most of the slots are in the Grand (RTG) and Jackpot (Betsoft) casinos. You definitely know these titles:
- Slots: Aladdin’s Wishes, Aztec’s Treasure, Kung-Fu Rooster;
- Table/Card Games: Roulette, Craps, Sic Bo, Baccarat, Blackjack;
- Video Poker: Aces and Eights, Double Bonus Poker, Jacks or Better;
- Specialty Games: Keno, Bingo, Scratch Cards;

Some progressive slots are also here, including Megasaur, Spirit of the Inca, At the Copa, etc.
Bonus casino and Match Play casino are reserved mostly for table and card games.
Mobile and Live Games
We were curious as to how this clumsy monstrosity of a casino will work on mobile devices. The answer is predictable - it is just as slow and clumsy on mobile gadgets, with some brand-new errors coming up here and there. The games do load eventually (at least in some of the sub-casinos), but their number is rather limited.
Currently, there is no sign of live games on Island Casino website. It’s for the better, because who knows what kind of live dealers they could hire.
Bonuses and Promotions
The Promotions section at Island Casino is just as confusing as everything else. Sub-casinos have their own bonuses (some have none, as far as we can see) that differ in amounts, percentages and wagering requirements. For example, there’s a 50% first deposit match bonus at Match Play casino (up to €125). Bonus casino has a Mad Bonus, where you choose match percentage yourself (from 20% to 100%), with wagering requirements matching the percentage (20% bonus has x20 wagering and so on). The bonus terms and conditions are so shady that we, personally, wouldn’t even make a deposit, not to speak of claiming a bonus.
“Island Casino is confusing, irritating and inconvenient in almost every aspect.”
